Our client, a dynamic logistics company with established operations in the Middle East and a growing footprint in East Africa, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented

Accountant

to oversee the full accounting function.

The role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring compliance with Ugandan statutory requirements, while supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and reporting

Manage freight and logistics accounting, including job costing, profitability analysis, and revenue recognition across all service lines

Review and validate supplier invoices and ensure accurate cost allocation and margin tracking

Ensure full compliance with Ugandan tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Tax) and statutory submissions (URA, NSSF)

Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and financial performance monitoring

Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, receivables, payables, and collections

Supervise accounting staff, optimize ERP systems, and drive process improvements and strong internal controls.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Must be

a CPA, ACCA finalist

qualification preferred).

4–6 years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior role.

Must Have

experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry

Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and financial regulations.

Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).

Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
