Health and Safety Manager at Reputable Company

A reputable haulage company is looking for a professional Health, Safety Security and Environment Manager for immediate employment.

Job Summary

•Your principal functions are to provide a safe working environment for all employees, and visitors, to co-ordinate and supervise the day-to-day safety activities as well as ensures the facilities are kept in a condition that reflects the HSSE standards and the administration of these facilities is properly and adequately maintained; achieve continual improvement in Health, Security, Safety and Environment and to show duty of care while promoting high awareness of HSSE to all staff of the company.

Principal Function:

You will be responsible in practice for the following:

• Lead and facilitate the development of corporate HSSE policies to support the companies HSSE management system, implement and monitor Quality, Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and Procedures.

• Coordinate HSSE activities to comply with all relevant regulatory and Company Rules and requirements.

• Lead on HSSE issues and on the implementation HSSE MS requirements.

• Maintain, review and update the HSSE policies

• Direct and manages Risk Assessments, Hazard Assessments and HAZOPS

• Ensure development of effective Emergency Response Plans

• Carry out incident investigation, reporting including implementation of close-out of preventive and corrective actions of accidents/accidents that occur to ensure compliance with Company Procedure for Incident management

• Attend/conduct regular HSSE meetings with clients and subcontractors HSSE forum and be able to discuss and agree on safety standards, concerns, and hazards management.

• To respond to fires and other emergencies on or about the company property; office/vehicles etc.

• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports on activities and inspections, as may be required.

• Ensure all relevant safety documentations and permits are available and up to date.

• Actively involved in the reporting of safety observations and promotion of same

• To arrange for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace and by external agencies/consultants as may be necessary;

• To act as liaison with all related industry, and regulating agencies on health, safety and environment

• Develop and conduct appropriate safety training for staff of the company

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or a related field and at least 2 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry with broad understanding of QHSE management (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015); or

• Minimum of an HND in related field and at least 4 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry with a Practical understanding of QHSE management systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015)

• Experience Level: Mid-level

• Experience Length: Minimum 2 years working experience in related field

• Must have a valid Driving license

• Must have a relevant professional qualification e.g. IOSH and / NEBOSH IGC

• Must have a good knowledge of international safety legislation, codes of practice, etc., audit/inspection techniques and procedures.

• Must have a good knowledge in HSE MS and risk management processes.

• Must have a good knowledge in management systems monitoring, e.g. implementing plans, hazardous materials & hazardous wastes management, reporting, etc., related to Company activities.

• Fleet or transport management is an added advantage

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Must be Fluent in English.

• Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in both written and verbal English.

• Previous experience in a large multinational taskforce environment.

• Negotiating ability: you’ll need to convince supervisors and managers to implement safety standards that can affect the speed and efficiency of the company’s operations.

• Diplomacy: the job requires patience to secure everyone’s cooperation.

• Analytical: ability to understand complex ideas while presenting them in simple but accurate terms.

• Inquisitive; Attention to detail; and ability to conduct audits

• Ability to drive: this is essential since the role involves travelling between work areas

• Ability to conduct training and presentations
