Role Objective
Our client is seeking an energetic Litigation Advocate to manage a dynamic civil litigation portfolio focused on commercial debt recovery, insurance defense, running down matters, and personal injury disputes. In this role, you will take full ownership of files from initial client instructions through drafting, court appearances, negotiations, and judgment execution. Core Duties and Responsibilities
Draft, review, and file court pleadings, witness statements, lists of documents, third-party notices, and formal legal opinions for motor accident claims and running down matters.
Evaluate liability exposure, assess quantum, and advise insurance clients on effective settlement strategies versus trial paths.
Prepare and conduct trial hearings, formal proofs, cross-examinations, and written submissions in Magistrates\' Courts and the High Court, as well as handle regular court mentions, interlocutory applications, and court-annexed mediations.
Negotiate out-of-court settlements and draft consent orders in collaboration with opposing counsel, loss adjusters, and insurance claims officers.
Issue statutory demand letters, negotiate structured payment plans, institute recovery suits and summary judgment applications and enforce judgments via warrants of attachment, garnishee proceedings, judgment debtor summonses, and court auctioneers.
Seamlessly manage case files through the Judiciary E-Filing system portal, track cause lists, statutory timelines, and limitation periods to ensure zero missed deadlines.
Deliver clear, timely progress updates and status reports to corporate clients, insurance panels, and supervising partners.
Perform additional practice-related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws from a recognized University
Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current Practicing Certificate (PC).
Minimum 2 years of litigation firm experience focused on insurance claims and debt recovery.
Strong grasp of civil procedure, torts/negligence, insurance, contract law, and judgment execution.
Hands-on experience with Judiciary E-Filing, virtual courts (Teams/Zoom), and law practice software.
