ROLE PURPOSE
The Multimedia Communications Officer is responsible for translating the Academy’s approved brand and communications strategy into compelling, timely, and audience-focused multimedia content across digital, social, internal, and media platforms. Serving as the operational content lead, this role drives content planning, production, publishing, live event storytelling, audience engagement, and performance analytics while ensuring strict adherence to safeguarding and brand compliance standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Digital Content Production & Platform Management
Translate annual communication strategies and editorial priorities into actionable content plans and platform-specific messaging.
Operationalize the digital editorial calendar across social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok), website, newsletters, and blogs.
Write, edit, and produce high-quality multimedia content capturing student experiences, academic achievements, and institutional impact.
Responsibly leverage AI-assisted content tools to optimize workflows while maintaining originality, data privacy, and the Academy’s voice.
Repurpose high-performing assets across multiple platforms to maximize reach and value.
Social Media & Audience Engagement
Manage daily social media operations, monitor comments and messages, and maintain brand tone.
Identify digital trends and opportunities to strengthen the Academy’s online visibility.
Promptly escalate sensitive comments, complaints, or reputational risks to the Brand Communications Manager.
Event Communications & Live Storytelling
Serve as the primary multimedia resource for key institutional events (Graduation, Founders Day, Scholarship Awards, sports competitions).
Coordinate photography, videography, live coverage, and same-day storytelling packages (reels, highlights, recap articles).
Manage on-site media requirements, press logistics, and interviews during institutional functions.
Performance Analytics & Insights
Track and report monthly performance metrics across digital channels, including reach, engagement, audience growth, and website traffic.
Maintain analytics dashboards, conduct quarterly competitor content audits, and present data-backed recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Brand Stewardship
Work with the Graphic Designer & Website Specialist to build integrated visual assets.
Partner with Admissions on recruitment content and support internal communication channels (e.g., weekly staff bulletin).
Maintain a secure, organized Digital Asset Management system and enforce 100% compliance with media consent and child safeguarding protocols.
Mentorship & Student Development
Train and supervise assigned interns and student journalists in ethical digital content creation and media standards.

Digital Engagement & Reach:
Consistent month-on-month growth across official social media channels, website traffic, and campaign conversions.
Content Delivery & Live Coverage:
100% delivery of same-day event media packages, weekly staff bulletins, and scheduled editorial calendars.
Brand Compliance & Safeguarding:
0 violations of child safeguarding protocols; 100% signed media release compliance prior to asset publication.
Operational Efficiency:
Demonstrable workflow optimization using AI tools and regular update of digital media archives.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Communication & Copywriting:
Exceptional written English and ability to translate complex topics into engaging narratives.
Multimedia Storytelling:
Proficiency in mobile journalism, press photography (DSLR/drone), and short-form video production.
Digital Literacy & AI Integration:
Confident application of social media analytics, management suites, and AI-assisted creation tools.
Live Event Journalism:
Capability to deliver high-quality, polished assets under high-pressure, live deadlines.
Safeguarding & Ethics:
Unwavering commitment to ethical reporting and safety standards for minors.
TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in digital content development, journalism, corporate communications, or social media management.
Demonstrated portfolio of multimedia storytelling, mobile journalism (e.g., Premiere Rush, Canva, Instagram Reels), and press photography.
Hands-on experience with social media analytics tools, Content Management Systems (CMS), and Digital Asset Management.
Experience producing content for youth audiences, educational setups, or non-profit sectors is an added advantage.
