Security Manager

A. Organizational Security Strategy

● Develop and implement the organisation's organisational security strategy and annual security

work plan.

● Establish security standards applicable to offices, shelters, field locations, staff travel and

programme activities.

● Develop and regularly review the organisation's security policies, procedures and protocols.

● Advise the Executive Director and Senior Management Team on emerging security risks.

● Maintain an organisational security risk register.

B. Security Risk Assessments

● Conduct regular security risk assessments for:

● Identify physical, operational, environmental, digital and contextual security risks.

● Develop appropriate mitigation measures for identified risks.

● Conduct security assessments before establishing or moving programme locations.

● Provide security recommendations to management before deployment to higher-risk areas.

● Review risk assessments following significant incidents or changes in the operating environment

C. Shelter and Survivor Security

● Develop and oversee security protocols for the organisation's shelters and safe houses.

● Ensure appropriate access-control systems are in place.

● Ensure shelter locations and resident information remain confidential.

D. Physical Securit

y

● Oversee physical security arrangements for the organisation's facilities.

● Develop and maintain access-control procedures.

● Review perimeter security, lighting, locks, gates, alarms and other security measures.

● Coordinate security guard deployment and duty schedules

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

● Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Criminology, International

Security, Disaster Management, Emergency Management or a related field.

● At least 7 years of relevant experience in security, risk management or safety, preferably in an

NGO, humanitarian, human rights or international development environment.

● At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.

● Demonstrated experience conducting security and risk assessments.

● Experience developing organisational security policies and procedures

.

● Experience managing security personnel and security service providers.

● Experience developing emergency response and business continuity arrangements.

● Strong knowledge of the Kenyan security and operating environment.

● Excellent analytical and risk-assessment skills.

● Strong communication, judgement and decision-making skills.

● High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality
