The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise that implements German development policy around the globe. The potential for technology transfer in healthcare between Africa and Europe has not yet been fully leveraged. In Kenya, start-ups and companies often lack structured access to regional and global growth pathways, while European MedTech solutions frequently fail due to insufficient adaptation to regional conditions. Against this backdrop, GIZ is implementing the standalone measure “Technology Transfer for Better Health in Africa”. The aim is to improve healthcare delivery in Kenya (and selected partner countries) by further developing and scaling data-driven technologies, identifying, addressing and practically overcoming regulatory, infrastructural and financial barriers through pilot initiatives in Kenya. Exchange formats and
solution approaches are jointly conducted and developed with Kenyan and European tech start-ups, companies and health experts, conceptually refined, implemented as pilots within multi-stakeholder partnerships in Kenya, and published as blueprints.
