Back - End Developer (Experienced Candidates)

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong technical skills and practical experience building, deploying, and maintaining scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate must have successfully developed and deployed at least one live, production-ready system.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance backend applications.

Build and manage RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services where required.

Design, manage, and optimise databases using MySQL and other relevant database technologies.

Develop and maintain backend services using Python and Django.

Identify and resolve bugs, performance issues, and system vulnerabilities.

Implement appropriate authentication, authorisation, and data protection measures.

Deploy applications to production environments and provide ongoing maintenance and technical support.

Collaborate with frontend developers, product designers, and other team members to deliver functional solutions.

Maintain technical documentation, write automated tests, and follow software development best practices.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in backend development.

Strong proficiency in Python and Django.

Practical experience with MySQL, including database design, queries, optimisation, and management.

Demonstrable experience developing, deploying, and maintaining live systems in a production environment.

Good understanding of RESTful API design, integration, and documentation.

Knowledge of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

Experience with Git or other version control systems.

Understanding of web application security, authentication, authorisation, and data validation.

Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with additional backend frameworks or technologies.

Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other database and caching technologies.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.

Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and application deployment automation.

Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development.

Familiarity with Linux server administration, Nginx, and application server configuration.

Understanding of application monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and system scalability.

Experience working with Agile development methodologies.

A portfolio of deployed applications or contributions to relevant software projects.
