Job Purpose
To assist the Dentist in performing treatment for patients in restorative dentistry or oral surgery.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Dental Administration – Assist the dentist in the administration of treatment at the dental chairside as required by the dentist.
Infection Control – Maintain a sterile and neat working environment according to current infection control procedures.
Documentation – Document dental care services by maintaining patients’ records.
Materials – Provide materials by selecting, mixing and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth.
Emergencies – Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply.
Patient Instruction – Provide postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist, together with dental hygiene, oral health care and plaque control programmes for patients.
Laboratory Records – Document lab procedures, ensure follow up on results, and record treatment information in patient records.

Minimum Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements
Diploma in Community Oral Health
A minimum of 0 – 2 years’ experience in a dental clinic
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) required
