PURPOSE OF JOB

The Head of Secondary School will provide effective academic leadership and oversight of the secondary school, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement. The role will oversee curriculum implementation, supervise teaching staff, monitor academic performance and coordinate examination preparation while promoting a safe, disciplined and supportive learning environment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide academic leadership anddirection for theSecondary School, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.

Oversee curriculum planning and implementation, ensuring effective delivery and adequate curriculum coverage.

Supervise and monitor the performance of teachers and Heads of Department, providing guidance and constructive feedback.

Conduct regularclassroom observations to assess teaching effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Monitor students' academic progress through assessments andexaminations, analyse performance data and recommend appropriate interventions.

Coordinate students' preparation for WAEC,NECO, JAMB UTME,IGCSE and other relevant examinations, where applicable.

Identify staff training needsand recommend professional development initiatives to improve teaching effectiveness.

Promote student discipline, welfareand compliance withsafeguarding and child protection procedures.

Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding students' academic progress and relevant concerns.

Coordinate academic meetings and ensureproper maintenance of curriculum, assessment and examination records.

Prepare periodic academic performance reports and submitrecommendations to school management.

Implement academic improvement initiatives in line with the school's educational objectives and standards.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degreein education or a relevant subject area. A Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Education or Leadership is an added advantage.

Valid Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)registration.

Minimum of five (5) years' teaching experience, including at least two (2) years in an academic leadership rolesuch as Headof Department or Vice Principal (Academics).

Demonstrable experience preparingstudents for WAEC, NECO, JAMB UTME or IGCSE examinations.

Experience in IGCSE training, academic competition coaching or familiarity with examination bodies such as Cambridge and British Councilwill be an added advantage

Proven ability to analyse assessment data and presentfindings to seniormanagement.

Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and proficiency in spreadsheets or relevant data tools.
