Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily HSE inspections across production areas, warehouses, and operational facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Ensure employees, contractors, and visitors comply with HSE policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Inspect and maintain the readiness of fire-protection systems, emergency equipment, and first-aid facilities, and document all inspections.
Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, update risk registers, and implement appropriate control measures.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses using Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
Plan and deliver HSE training, safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to build a strong safety culture.
Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, ventilation, lighting, noise levels, and other environmental controls.
Prepare and maintain HSE reports, inspection records, and incident documentation, and track completion of corrective actions.
Supervise contractor activities by reviewing work permits, ensuring HSE compliance, and monitoring safe work practices.
Support emergency preparedness through the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency response and evacuation plans and drills.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education Bachelor's degree in Science, Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Experience of 3–5 years in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Language: Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Certifications: ISO 45001 (Lead/Internal Auditor or equivalent), First Aid, and Fire-Fighting certification.
Technical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OSHA standards.
Good understanding of Ghana Occupational Safety and Health regulations and applicable Ghanaian environmental and labor legislation.
Risk assessment, incident investigation, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Emergency response, first aid, and fire-prevention practices.
Preparing HSE reports, audits, inspections, and safety-performance analysis.
Behavioral Competencies
Strong integrity and safety leadership.
Clear communication and the ability to influence a safety culture.
Analytical thinking and sound judgment under pressure.
Attention to detail and disciplined record-keeping.
