Lead Project Manager- Nairobi, Kenya

Our client is seeking an experienced

Lead Project Manager

to oversee a high-impact software development initiative from inception through delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, advanced project management expertise, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project outcomes. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex technical projects, driving execution, and maintaining alignment with both technical and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities.

Lead end-to-end project management for a mission-critical software development project

Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation frameworks

Coordinate effectively with developers, QA teams, executives, and external vendors

Manage and motivate project teams to achieve milestones and maintain high performance

Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proactive issue resolution

Maintain strict control over project scope, budget, timelines, and deliverables

Oversee software testing, validation, and quality assurance to meet performance and security standards

Implement Agile/Scrum methodologies to support iterative development and continuous improvement

Develop and execute project rollout plans with internal and external stakeholders

Serve as the primary liaison for project communications, providing regular progress updates to all stakeholders

Key Qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Minimum 6+ years of project management experience, including at least 3 years managing software development projects

Proven track record of delivering enterprise-level software solutions successfully

Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing third-party vendors

Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and modern software development practices

Familiarity with contemporary software architecture and integration approaches

Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, MS Project, or similar

Strong technical understanding of SDLC, APIs, integration processes, and software delivery workflows

Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Certified Practitioner are preferred
