Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance

Location: Ruiru

General Purpose

To ensure all bakery equipment and facilities are maintained safely, hygienically, and efficiently in order to minimize production downtime

Ensure food safety and product quality

Extend equipment lifespan

Comply with safety and regulatory standards

Duties and responsibilities

Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance

Record all maintenance activities

Report faults, risks, and spare parts needs

Plan preventive maintenance schedules

Coordinate with production and quality teams

Academic qualifications

Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance

Skills, experience, and attributes

Strong problem-solving abilities

Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies

Good communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call when required

Health, Safety & Food Safety

Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times

Ensure equipment complies with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP)

Lock-out/tag-out equipment before maintenance activities

Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment

Facility & Utilities Maintenance

Maintain factory utilities such as:

Electrical systems

Water supply and drainage

Compressed air systems

Ventilation and exhaust systems

Carry out minor building repairs (doors, floors, lighting, plumbing)

Requirements

The remuneration for this position is: 90.000 KES fixed + 60.000 KES variable gross/month
