Operations Manager

.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all Freight Forwarding operations, including Air, Sea, Road Freight, and Customs Clearance, to ensure operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and exceptional client service. The role will provide leadership and oversight across ICD, JKIA, and Mombasa Port operations, ensuring the achievement of strategic objectives, operational excellence, and service delivery standards. Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day Freight Forwarding Operations, including Air, Sea, Road Freight, and Customs Clearance, ensuring timely, efficient, and compliant service delivery.

Coordinate and manage operational workflows across ICD, JKIA, and Mombasa Port while ensuring adherence to all customs, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

Review, approve, and monitor shipment documentation, pre-alerts, operational invoices, and customs clearance processes to ensure accuracy and smooth execution of import/export activities.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, customs authorities, shipping lines, airlines, ground handlers, and other stakeholders to resolve shipment-related issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Develop, implement, and monitor departmental procedures, KPIs, and compliance standards in line with company policies, ISO requirements, and operational objectives.

Lead, mentor, and evaluate the operations team to drive productivity, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with a Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance Operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations, customs legislation, tariffs, import/export documentation, customs declaration processes, and Kenyan port and bond management procedures.

Demonstrated leadership ability with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team management skills in a fast-paced operational environment.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills, with the ability to provide timely updates and maintain high service standards.

High level of integrity, attention to detail, computer literacy, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
