Job Brief: To lead geological exploration, resource evaluation and technical analysis in support of mining operations, ensuring accurate interpretation of geological data, resource modelling and reporting to support effective decision-making on mining projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, manage and execute geological exploration programmes for mineral deposits.
Conduct field surveys, sampling, mapping and core logging.
Interpret geological, geophysical and geochemical data to identify mineral resources.
Develop and maintain 3D geological and resource models using software such as Surpac, Leapfrog or Vulcan.
Evaluate drilling results, estimate ore reserves and prepare technical reports.
Provide geological input to mine planning, scheduling and production optimisation.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
Supervise and mentor junior geologists and field staff.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors and consultants as needed.
Prepare technical reports, maps and presentations for management, investors and regulatory submissions, and keep accurate records of field data, sampling results and exploration activities.
Keep up to date with industry trends, technologies and best practice.
Perform any other task assigned by the Supervisor and/or Management.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Mining Geology or a related field.
5 to 10 years' experience in mineral exploration or mining geology.
Strong knowledge of ore deposit geology, mining methods and resource estimation.
Proficiency in geological software and GIS applications.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.
Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in the mining sector.
Attention to detail and accuracy; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Sound decision-making and project management skills.
Adaptable to fieldwork in remote and challenging environments, and willing to travel to exploration sites (a combination of office and field work).
