Software Engineer (PHP/Laravel)

Job Description

Design, develop, test, and maintain robust applications using PHP and the Laravel framework.

Build and integrate RESTful APIs, third-party services, and external data sources.

Design, optimize, and manage relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and scalability challenges.

Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code following industry best practices.

Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application reliability and quality.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with product managers, designers, data engineers, and other developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Enhance and optimize system functionality, ensuring improved stability, performance, scalability, and user experience

Qualifications

Required

3-5 years of professional experience developing applications using PHP and Laravel.

Strong expertise in relational database design, SQL optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.

Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and JSON-based services.

Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), MVC architecture, SOLID principles, and software design patterns.

Experience using Git and modern version control workflows.

Hands-on experience with testing tools such as PHPUnit, Pest, or similar frameworks.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks such as Vue.js, React, or Alpine.js.

Experience with Redis, Memcached, or other caching technologies.

Knowledge of queue management and background job processing using Laravel Queues, Horizon, RabbitMQ, or similar tools.

Experience with Docker, containerization, and microservices architectures.

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or DigitalOcean.

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Experience working with data-intensive or analytics-driven applications.

BA/BSc/HND
