University Librarian

Duties

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of all Library services in the University (the Main Library and in Libraries across all campuses of the University).

As an Academic Staff, the University Librarian will be required to provide both academic and administrative leadership to staff in the University Library.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

A good honours degree from a recognised university with minimum of Master Degree in Library Science.

Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage

At least twenty-four (24) scholarly publications in reputable journals

At least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in a recognised University, five (5) of which must be as a Deputy University Librarian or be at least an Associate Professor of Library Science

A clear understanding of the roles and nature of a University Library in the new global century.

Applicants must be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant

A command of respect and ability to provide leadership and offer appropriate advice on matters affecting the University.

Tenure

The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of five years with eligibility for reappointment for a second term of five (5) years only.

Remuneration

The University Librarian will be entitled to the salary and other conditions of service as applicable to the position in a Nigerian public university as may be approved by the Governing Council of the Kwara State University, Malete.

BA/BSc/HND , MBA/MSc/MA , Professional Certificate
