Description
A chef plans menus, prepares and cooks food, oversees kitchen operations, and leads kitchen staff in restaurants, hotels, and other food service settings
Core Responsibilities
Menu Planning: Develop innovative, balanced menus that fit the establishment's concept, target audience, and seasonal ingredient availability.
Food Preparation & Quality Control: Direct cooking activities, ensure high standards of taste and presentation, and inspect raw and cooked products.
Staff Leadership & Training: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise kitchen personnel (such as sous chefs, line cooks, and commis chefs).
Inventory & Cost Management: Order supplies, manage food and labor costs, control waste, and oversee vendor procurement.
Safety & Sanitation: Enforce strict health, safety, and kitchen cleanliness standards in compliance with local regulations.
