Duties & Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, inspection, and maintenance of trucks and heavy commercial vehicles.
Diagnose and repair faults in engines, gearboxes, clutches, differentials, and braking systems.
Maintain and repair suspension systems, steering systems, axles, and hydraulic components.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize vehicle breakdowns and operational downtime.
Inspect vehicles, identify defective components, and recommend necessary repairs and replacement of spare parts.
Repair and maintain truck electrical systems, including starting and charging systems.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities.
Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Qualifications.
Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
Proven practical experience in truck and heavy commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of diesel engines, transmission systems, air brakes, suspension systems, and heavy-duty vehicle diagnostics.
Experience with truck brands such as Faw, Sinotruk, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, or similar heavy commercial vehicles will be an added advantage.
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs with minimal supervision.
Strong troubleshooting skills, discipline.
Conduct equipment inspections and recommend necessary repairs and spare parts.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and proper use of workshop tools and equipment.
