Key Responsibilities
A. Repair, Maintenance and Servicing
Diagnose faults in refrigerators, air conditioners, and other refrigeration and cooling equipment.
Carry out repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-system faults.
Install, replace, and repair faulty components, including compressors, thermostats, fans, motors, and other system parts.
Perform refrigerant handling, leak detection, and recharging in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements.
Test equipment after repairs or servicing to confirm proper operation and compliance with required standards.
Identify potential equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
B. Safety and Compliance
Strictly observe workplace health and safety requirements when carrying out repairs, installations, and maintenance.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure tools and equipment are used safely.
Follow proper procedures for handling refrigerants, electrical components, and other potentially hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Immediately report workplace hazards, accidents, faulty tools, and unsafe working conditions.
Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with technical specifications, company procedures, and applicable safety standards.
C. Tools, Equipment and Inventory Management
Properly use, maintain, and account for tools, equipment, and materials assigned to the technician.
Report damaged, missing, or faulty tools and equipment promptly.
Identify required spare parts and materials before and during repair work.
Avoid unnecessary wastage of materials and ensure responsible use of company resources.
D. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, maintenance activities, materials used, and equipment condition.
Prepare service reports and document faults identified, work completed, and recommendations for further action.
Complete job cards, work orders, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Use computers and relevant digital tools to prepare reports, maintain records, and communicate work progress.
Promptly report delays, technical challenges, and issues that may affect work completion.
E. Teamwork and Customer Service
Work collaboratively with other technicians and team members to complete assignments efficiently.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, colleagues, and customers.
Explain identified faults, repairs undertaken, and maintenance recommendations to customers where necessary.
Respond professionally to customer concerns and ensure work meets the required quality standards.
Support colleagues when necessary and contribute positively to team performance.
F. General Duties and Accountability
Complete assigned tasks diligently, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.
Be available to work flexible hours, including overtime when required by operational demands and in accordance with applicable employment requirements.
Be willing to travel to client locations or other work sites as required.
Take initiative in identifying problems and recommending practical solutions rather than waiting for constant supervision.
Follow instructions, accept constructive feedback, and apply lessons learned to improve performance.
Participate in training and development activities to improve technical skills and knowledge.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
