Credit Operations & Recoveries Officer

Key Responsibilities

Market and sell loan products to suitable clients.

Receive and process loan applications.

Verify borrower information and supporting documents.

Prepare loan agreements, repayment schedules and payment acknowledgements.

Maintain accurate loan and borrower records.

Monitor repayment dates and follow up borrowers before payments fall due.

Recover overdue loans and document repayment commitments.

Maintain proper records of guarantors, securities, cheques and other supporting documents.

Record repayments and correctly allocate payments to principal and interest.

Maintain separate records for different credit portfolios.

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly portfolio reports.

Identify problem accounts early and recommend recovery action.

Maintain professional but firm relationships with borrowers.

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, Microfinance or a related field.

Previous experience in credit, microfinance, SACCO operations, loan sales, banking or debt recovery is preferred.

Strong communication, negotiation and recovery skills.

Good numerical and record-keeping ability.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Highly organised, trustworthy and able to work with minimal supervision.

Must be comfortable making regular follow-up and collection calls.

Ability to balance customer relations with firm credit discipline.
