Human Resource Supervisor (Agriculture)- Makueni, Kenya

Our client is looking for an experienced Human Resources Supervisor to manage and coordinate day-to-day HR operations on-site.

The role will focus on workforce planning, employee relations, payroll support, policy implementation, compliance, staff welfare and general HR administration across farm and administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate workforce planning and recruitment activities, including seasonal hiring, onboarding and employee database management.

Manage employee relations and welfare matters, including grievances, disciplinary issues and policy communication.

Ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll information and support payroll processing where required.

Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, health and safety standards.

Assist in drafting, implementing and interpreting HR policies, procedures and the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Manage general HR administration, including employee records, timekeeping, attendance and benefits coordination.

Prepare and submit monthly and annual HR reports within the required timelines.

Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 in the handling of employee information.

Communicate and enforce HR policies, safety guidelines and working conditions across farm and administrative teams.

Counsel supervisors and employees on performance issues and mediate workplace disputes to minimise operational disruptions.

Key Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.

Must be CHRP certified and a member of IHRM.

At least 4 years of HR experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a labour-intensive environment.

Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.

Demonstrable experience handling employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievances and employee welfare.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with maturity and discretion.

Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and follow matters through to resolution.
